Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 5 Days

DAY 1: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA

Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel to head to the village of Mollepata (2700 m.a.s.l.) to start this incredible adventure through the Salkantay Inca Trail to Machu Picchu on a route that will take about 2 and a half hours, in this place you will take time to appreciate this village and continue the trip.
After that, you will arrive at Challacancha, in that place you will start the trek after which you will arrive to Soraypampa (3900 m.a.s.l.) when will restore your energies with the lunch.
You will have a trek towards the beautiful Humantay lake. After a prudent time you will start the return to Soraypampa, where you will have a delicious dinner prepared by our expert chef.

DAY 2: SORAYPAMPA – CHAULLAY

This day is considered the most challenging of the Salkantay trek.
Early in the morning, you will continue the route, after a healthy breakfast you will go to the highest point of the route, the pass of Salkantay (4600 masl), which is about 6 hours from our camp, you will stop to appreciate the beauty of the landscape and you will make an offering to the health of our journey before continuing.
The lunch of this day is scheduled at the next stop point called Wayraqmach’ay which is a transition point or rupture from puna to clowforest.
You will continue the route of this day until arriving at the camping area, which will be located at the site called Chaullay.

DAY 3: CHAULLAY – LA PLAYA – LUCMABAMBA

Early in the morning after a consistent breakfast will begin the walk that will last approximately 5 to 7 hours.
On the route you will pass through the sites called Wiñaypoqo and Lluskamayu, between paths adorned by the characteristic vegetation of the jungle, among the most prominent are the great variety of orchids.
At approximately 15:00 hrs you will arrive at Playa Zawayaco, where you will have a consistent lunch.
Finally, you will take a walk of approximately 2 hours to Lucmabamba, where the camp will be.

DAY 4: LUCMABAMBA – LLAQTAPATA – HIDROELÉCTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES

Between 7:00 am and 8:00 am, you will go to the Llaqtapata archaeological site, you will arrive at approximately 12:00 pm, you will continue to Hidroelectrica where you will have lunch.
From Hidroelectrica you will start the walk along the train path for 03 hours and will take you to the Aguas Calientes town.
In Aguas Calientes town you will settle in the designated hotel to be able to take a deserved rest.
In the evening you will have a delicious dinner in a tourist restaurant

DAY 5: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Early in the morning, the guide will pass by your hotel. And you will go to the bus station. By tourist bus along a zigzagging road, you will arrive in Machu Picchu on a 30-minute trip.
In Machu Picchu, after passing through the checkpoint, you will have a guided tour of approximately 2 hours through the most important places of the Inca citadel such as the enclosures, sacred fountains, temples, the Intiwatana, the agricultural sector, and the urban sector.
At the end of the guided tour, the guide will leave you in a strategic area where you can continue exploring and take photographs of the memory.
When leaving Machu Picchu, you will return to Aguas Calientes by tourist bus. In Aguas Calientes, you can have lunch in one of the many restaurants in the town.
After lunch, according to the schedule, you will board your train to return to Ollantaytambo, where our representative will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Cusco.

TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT:

• You must consider that it will be necessary to line up to board the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu and the bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes depending on the high or low season. Our guide can give you suggestions on how to dose your time properly.
• Visit Machu Picchu is governed by a circuit programmed in only one direction with no option to return. From January 1, 2019, there is no re-entry to Machu Picchu, re-entry is only possible if your ticket includes Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, so it is recommended to go to the Inti Punku or Inca bridge, before starting your tour guided by Machu Picchu with prior coordination with your tour guide.
• Trains are subject to availability depending on the anticipated time of reservation or season.

ADDITIONAL:

• If your train schedule allows, we recommend visiting the Chavez Ballòn Museum, which is the Machu Picchu’ site museum, from 12:00 noon, admission is free, to enter you must only show your passport.
• Another place you can visit is the Butterfly House, where you can appreciate the growth stages of a butterfly from being a cocoon to an adult butterfly. The entry price is S /. 10.00.
