DAY 1: WELCOME TO LIMA + CITY TOUR (IN THE AFTERNOON)

When your international flight arrives in Lima, look for your Kantu Peru tours will be holding a sign with your name on it as the first step in your Peru Family Vacation! We know you’ll most likely be a little tired after your long flight, so we’ll save you the stress and bring you straight to your hotel where you can shake off that icky flight feeling with a shower and rest before starting your city tour.

Our Kantu Peru Tours representative will pick you up from your hotel to start this fantastic tour where we will visit the most modern districts of Miraflores and San Isidro. We will visit the Financial Center, the Golf, the Olivar Park, the Huaca Pucllana a pre-Inca pyramidal temple that still survives the urban expansion where our guide will explain the history of this majestic place and then we will go towards Parque del Amor located in Miraflores, from where we can appreciate the majestic Pacific Ocean.

To continue with this adventure, we will go to the Lima Historic Center, declared by UNESCO in 1991 Cultural Heritage of Humanity, due to its beautiful architecture. where the Spanish established in the 16th century, we will visit the Plaza San Martín, the balconies and old mansions, and the Plaza Mayor where we will appreciate the most important buildings such as the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, the Archbishop’s Palace, Municipal and the crypt of Francisco Pizarro – founder of the city of Lima. Later, ending the tour, return to your respective hotel in Lima.

DAY 2: FLIGHT TO CUSCO IN THE MORNING + CITY TOUR IN THE AFTERNOON

We will start the day with an early transfer from your hotel in Lima to the airport, where you will take a flight to Cusco, the historic capital of the Inca Empire. During the flight, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Andes as you make your way to one of the most fascinating destinations in Peru. Upon arrival in Cusco, our team will greet you and assist you with your transfer to the hotel. You will have time to settle in and relax as you acclimate to the altitude and prepare to start exploring this incredible city.

In the afternoon, around 1:00 PM, we will meet at the hotel to begin an exciting city tour of Cusco. We will start by visiting the impressive Cusco Cathedral, which houses an extensive collection of colonial art. Next, we will head to the Temple of the Sun, or Koricancha, an ancient Inca temple on which a Dominican convent was built. This site is known for its exquisite Inca stonework and its unique history as one of the most important religious centers of the Inca Empire.

The tour also includes visits to archaeological sites outside the city, such as Sacsayhuamán, a fortress with enormous stone walls that offer panoramic views of Cusco. We will then explore Q’enqo, an Inca ceremonial site, before heading to Puca Pucara. This fortress guarded the roads to Cusco, and Tambomachay, known as the “Bath of the Inca” for its ceremonial water fountains. The tour will end around 6:00 PM, leaving free time to continue exploring Cusco at your own pace, enjoy its vibrant nightlife, or relax in one of its many local cafes and restaurants.

DAY 3: FULL-DAY SACRED VALLEY TOUR + AGUAS CALIENTES

At 7:30 AM, our tourist transport will pick you up from your hotel and take you through the majestic mountainous landscapes to Pisac. During the journey, we will make stops at panoramic viewpoints where you can capture stunning photos of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and marvel at its breathtaking views.

In Pisac, you’ll explore a fascinating archaeological site filled with terraces and temples that showcase the grandeur of the Inca civilization. You will also have time to wander through the vibrant artisan market, full of colorful local products. Afterwards, we’ll head to Urubamba, where a delicious lunch awaits you at a charming restaurant, offering a diverse buffet with unique flavors of the region.

In the afternoon, you’ll delve into the history and magic of the Ollantaytambo archaeological site, a place rich in culture and impressive Inca structures. Finally, we’ll take you to the Ollantaytambo train station for your train ride to the town of Aguas Calientes, preparing you for the next stage of your exciting journey.

DAY 4: TOUR IN MACHUPICCHU (THE LOST CITY OF THE INCAS)

Early in the morning, after breakfast and depending on your entry time to Machu Picchu, we will pick you up from your hotel and take you by bus to the majestic Inca city. The bus ride takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the Machu Picchu checkpoint. Once there, you will enjoy a guided tour of about two hours, during which you will explore the most important temples and sectors of this archaeological wonder. Please note that due to site restrictions, the tour is one-way, and returning to previously visited areas is not allowed.

After your guided tour, you will take the bus back from Machu Picchu to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time to enjoy lunch at your own pace. This is an excellent opportunity to relax and explore this charming town at your leisure.

In the afternoon, depending on your train schedule, you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo. There, our driver will be waiting with a sign bearing your name to take you back to your hotel in Cusco, where you can rest and reflect on the incredible experience you’ve had.

DAY 5: HALF-DAY SOUTH VALLE TOUR IN CUSCO

Begin your journey into the lesser-known but equally captivating South Valley of Cusco with our Half-Day South Valley Tour, starting at approximately 8:30 AM. Our comfortable transportation will pick you up from your hotel and head south of Cusco, where rich history and stunning landscapes await. After about an hour’s drive, we arrive at our first stop: Tipón, an impressive archaeological complex that features 12 beautifully constructed agricultural terraces. This site not only showcases the incredible engineering skills of the Incas but also offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valley.

Next, we visit Pikillacta, a significant pre-Inca site belonging to the Wari culture. This expansive urban center, with its vast network of streets and buildings, provides a fascinating glimpse into the sophisticated society that thrived here long before the rise of the Inca Empire. Walking through its ruins, you’ll be transported back in time, imagining the bustling life of this ancient city that once played a crucial role in regional trade and culture.

Our final destination is the charming colonial village of Andahuaylillas, home to the renowned 16th-century Church of San Pedro Apóstol, often referred to as the “Sistine Chapel of America.” Adorned with intricate murals, lavish altars, and stunning colonial architecture, this church is a true gem of baroque art in Peru. After exploring these remarkable sites, we will return to Cusco, with an estimated arrival at the city center around 2:30 PM, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the rest of your day in this vibrant city.

DAY 6: FULL-DAY HUMANTAY LAKE TOUR

The Humantay Lake tour begins early, with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco around 4:00 a.m., depending on your location. After gathering the group, we’ll set off on an exhilarating adventure towards the stunning Humantay Lake. Our journey starts with a scenic 2-hour drive in our comfortable tourist transport to the charming community of Mollepata, where you’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast to fuel you for the day’s activities.

From Mollepata, we continue our trek to Humantay Lake, a 1.5-hour hike through breathtaking Andean landscapes. As you reach the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the lake, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views that make the effort worthwhile. After taking in the natural beauty, we’ll head back to the van and drive to the restaurant where you’ll have a delicious buffet lunch, perfect for replenishing your energy after the hike.

As the day winds down, we’ll return you to Cusco, with our van dropping you off at your hotel between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Reflect on your awe-inspiring adventure to Humantay Lake as you enjoy a well-deserved rest, having experienced one of the most breathtaking natural wonders of the Andes.

DAY 7: FREE DAY TO EXPLORE CUSCO ON YOUR OWN

Today is your day to immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Cusco at your own pace. With no pre-arranged tours, you have the freedom to explore and discover the hidden gems of this historic city. Here are some recommendations to help you make the most of your day:

Visit San Pedro Market: Start your day at this bustling market, where you can experience local life, shop for unique souvenirs, and try traditional Peruvian snacks.

Walk Down Siete Borreguitos Street: Enjoy a stroll along this charming, lesser-known street lined with quaint houses and artisan shops.

Go Shopping: Explore the many boutiques in the San Blas neighborhood, known for its artisan shops and unique products like alpaca wool and silver jewelry.

Take Photos at Plaza de Armas: Visit Cusco’s main square to capture photos of the stunning colonial architecture and soak in the lively atmosphere.

Enjoy a Pisco Sour: End your day with a refreshing Pisco Sour at a local bar or cafe around the Plaza de Armas.
