7 Day Machu Picchu Tour with Rainbow Mountain and Humantay Lake

After breakfast at your hotel, you will travel through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, an area known for its traditional communities, agricultural landscapes and important archaeological sites.

The excursion includes a guided visit to Pisac, where you can explore its Inca terraces and archaeological remains. You will then continue through the valley for a buffet lunch before visiting Ollantaytambo, one of the best-preserved Inca towns in Peru.

After the guided tour, you will board the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, a representative will assist you with the transfer to your hotel and provide information about the following day’s Machu Picchu visit.

After breakfast, you will meet your guide and take the shuttle bus from Aguas Calientes to the entrance of Machu Picchu.

During the guided visit, you will explore the areas permitted by your assigned entrance ticket and learn about the history, architecture and cultural importance of the Inca citadel. The exact route depends on the Machu Picchu circuit available when your reservation is confirmed.

After the tour, you will return by bus to Aguas Calientes and have free time for lunch before boarding the train to Ollantaytambo or Poroy. Upon arrival, tourist transportation will take you back to your hotel in Cusco.

After breakfast, you will travel into the countryside surrounding Cusco to visit Moray and the Maras Salt Mines.

At Moray, your guide will explain the purpose of the circular agricultural terraces and how the Incas may have used their different levels to experiment with crops and growing conditions.

The tour continues to the Maras Salt Mines, where thousands of traditional salt ponds extend across the mountainside. Local families have used these pools for salt production for generations.

After completing the excursion, you will return to Cusco and have the remainder of the day free.

You will leave Cusco early in the morning and travel toward the southern Andes. Along the way, you will stop for breakfast before continuing to the starting point of the Rainbow Mountain hike.

Accompanied by your guide, you will walk gradually toward the main Vinicunca viewpoint. The route takes place at high altitude, so you should maintain a comfortable pace, stay hydrated and follow the guide’s recommendations.

At the viewpoint, you will have time to appreciate the multicolored mountain landscape and take photographs before beginning the descent. You will then enjoy lunch and return to Cusco in the late afternoon.

After visiting Humantay Lake, you will hike back to Soraypampa and travel to Mollepata for lunch. You will then return to Cusco in the late afternoon.
