INCA TRAIL TO CHOQUEQUIRAO 5 DAYS
The Inca Trail to Choquequirao, a 5-day trek, is one of the most challenging and beautiful hikes in the world. Choquequirao is currently known as the “other Machu Picchu,” and you will reach it through the Apurímac Canyon. This trek is the best option for discovering Inca treasures that few have access to.
Choquequirao, known as an administrative, religious, and military citadel, is visited by only a few travelers. There, you will delight in the diverse flora and fauna, including condors, deer, chinchillas, hummingbirds, orchids, bromeliads, and more.
DAY 1: CUSCO – CACHORA – CHIQUISKA
Today you will start the Choquequirao tour with a 4-hour journey from your hotel to San Pedro de Cachora, where you’ll begin a trek to Capuliyoc to enjoy breathtaking views. Afterward, you’ll descend to the campsite at Chiquiska for a delicious dinner.

DAY 2: CHIQUISKA – SANTA ROSA – MARANPATA – CHOQUEQUIRAO
Early in the morning, we will start a 5-hour hike with panoramic views of Choquequirao on the way to Marampata, where we will have lunch. We will then continue to the Choquequirao Archaeological Park, where we will spend the afternoon and enjoy dinner.

DAY 3: ARCHEOLOGICAL PARK OF CHOQUEQUIRAO
Today, we will fully explore the Choquequirao Archaeological Park in Cusco with a guide who will inform you about its significance. We’ll visit the Main Plaza, storage areas, sacred terraces, and more. After the exploration, a delicious lunch and dinner await you at the campsite.

DAY 4: CHOQUEQUIRAO – CHIQUISKA – COCAMASANA
After breakfast, we will embark on a downhill hike toward the Apurímac River, enjoying spectacular views of the Grand Canyon and waterfalls along the way. You’ll have lunch en route, and then we’ll ascend for 3 to 4 hours to our final campsite, where a delicious dinner awaits.

DAY 5: COCAMASANA – CONOC HOT SPRINGS – CUSCO
Today is the final day of our 5-day Choquequirao Trek. After breakfast, you’ll walk for 2 hours to Capuliyoc, where you’ll be transferred to the Sayhuite Stone, an ancient Inca worship center. Afterward, you’ll visit the Conoc Hot Springs to relax and have lunch before heading to Cusco.

DAY 1: CUSCO – CACHORA – CHIQUISKA
We’ll start our 5-day Inca Trail to Choquequirao early in the morning. Our transport and guide will pick you up from your hotel, and after a 4-hour drive, we’ll arrive at the picturesque village of Cachora, where you’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast. We’ll then continue to Capuliyoc, the starting point of our trek.
Before setting off, you’ll meet the team who will accompany us: the cook and the muleteer. Our hike will begin on a gentle trail to Chiquiska, offering stunning views of the Apurímac Canyon. If we’re lucky, we might spot the majestic flight of the Andean condor, the sacred bird of the Incas.
Upon reaching Chiquiska, we’ll set up camp. To end the day on a high note, we invite you to enjoy a cozy tea time followed by a delightful dinner. It will be the perfect start to your adventure to Choquequirao!

DAY 2: CHIQUISKA – SANTA ROSA – MARANPATA – CHOQUEQUIRAO
We will begin our journey at 4:00 a.m., after enjoying a delicious breakfast. Due to the high temperatures that often occur on sunny days, it’s essential to start early to make the most of the cooler hours.
We’ll start with a descent of approximately one hour to reach Playa Rosalina. From there, we’ll embark on a demanding ascent of 1,500 meters, which will take around 4 hours. Prepare for a challenge that will reward you with spectacular views.
Upon reaching the picturesque village of Marampata, we’ll enjoy a well-deserved lunch and, if you wish, you’ll have the opportunity to use the available rental bathrooms. After lunch, we’ll continue our hike for an additional 2 hours to our campsite at Choquequirao. Here, you can relax and recharge as we enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars.

DAY 3: ARCHEOLOGICAL PARK OF CHOQUEQUIRAO
After two days of challenging adventure, the third day will be dedicated to exploring the stunning citadel of Choquequirao, often referred to as the “other Machu Picchu” due to its breathtaking beauty and complexity. This archaeological site, still in the process of excavation, is so vast that some experts believe it may surpass Machu Picchu in size.
During our visit, we’ll explore the ceremonial area, the llama sector, the Temple of Water, and other fascinating corners. You’ll have plenty of time to capture the spectacular views and take photographs to immortalize your experience in this magical place.
At the end of the day, we’ll return to the campsite where we stayed the previous night and enjoy a well-deserved dinner. It will be a perfect opportunity to relax and reflect on the grandeur of our adventure.

DAY 4: CHOQUEQUIRAO – CHIQUISKA – COCAMASANA
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we’ll begin our return hike. The first hour will be relatively easy as we descend to Marampata. From there, we’ll continue our descent to Playa Rosalina, the deepest point of the Apurímac Canyon, offering a stunning experience to admire the grandeur of the landscape.
We’ll then continue our journey with a climb of approximately one hour to Chiquiska, where we’ll stop for lunch and recharge our energy. After lunch, we’ll hike for an additional 2 hours until we reach Cocamasana, our destination for the night.
Upon arriving at Cocamasana, we’ll set up our camp and enjoy a delicious dinner, perfect for replenishing our strength after a day of hiking. It will be a peaceful night where you can relax and share your travel experiences with the group.

DAY 5: COCAMASANA – CONOC SPRINGS – CUSCO
On the final day of our incredible Choquequirao trek, we’ll start with a nutritious and delicious breakfast. We’ll then begin our return journey to Capuliyoc, a roughly 3-hour trek. There, we’ll bid farewell to our muleteer and board the transport back to Cusco.
On the way back, you’ll have the option to visit the Sayhuite archaeological site and the Conoc Hot Springs, two optional stops that provide additional opportunities to explore and relax. The Conoc Hot Springs, in particular, are natural springs where you can enjoy a well-deserved soak; please note that entrance fees are payable on-site.
Our chef will prepare a final lunch to enjoy before we reach Cusco. After approximately 3 hours of travel, we’ll arrive at your hotel in Cusco, where our unforgettable adventure will come to a close.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO DO THE CHOQUEQUIRAO TREKKING 5 DAYS?
The best time is during the dry season, from May to October. The rainy season (November to April) can make trails slippery and challenging.
WHAT LEVEL OF FITNESS IS REQUIRED FOR TREKKING IN CHOQUEQUIRAO CUSCO?
The trek involves challenging hikes at high altitudes. A good level of physical fitness and some prior trekking experience are recommended.
IS ALTITUDE SICKNESS A CONCERN FOR THE CHOQUEQUIRAO TOUR?
Yes, altitude sickness can occur. It’s important to acclimate in Cusco before starting the trek, stay hydrated, and listen to your body during the hike. Therefore I suggest you check our traditional tours to acclimatize.
ARE THERE FACILITIES FOR CHARGING ELECTRONICS DURING THE CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK 5 DAYS?
Charging facilities are generally not available on the trek. Bring extra batteries or a portable power bank. However, you will have this service from the 3rd day.

Safe drinking water is usually provided or can be treated with purification tablets. Always follow guide instructions regarding water sources.

Many hotels and hostels offer free store service. If they do not, we can store your things in the office as long as you list the belongings you are leaving. we will store your belongings until you come back from the Choquequirao Trek 5 days.
