Itinerary
EXPERIENTIAL TOURISM IN CHINCHERO ITINERARYÂ
DAY 1: WELCOME AND FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH ANDEN CULTURE
Pickup and Transfer to Chinchero
- We will start the day with a pickup from your hotel at 9:00 am, heading to the district of Chinchero, located 35 minutes from Cusco. A rural road will take us to the community of Ocutuan-Umasbamba.
Traditional Welcome by the Host Family
- Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the host family with music, traditional dances, and necklaces made with the national flower of Peru, offering a warm welcome.
Introduction and Accommodation in the Family Home
- After the welcome, you will meet the community members and learn about their organization and customs. You will be shown around the house, including your room, to settle in.
Preparation and Traditional Lunch
- You will help the family prepare a typical lunch made with fresh ingredients from the community, allowing you to experience authentic Andean cuisine.
Daily Activities with the Community
- After lunch, you will participate in activities such as herding alpacas and sheep, collecting firewood, and gathering plants used for dyeing wool. This is a great opportunity to learn about daily life and local traditions.
Dinner and Accommodation in the Family Home
- The day will end with the preparation of a traditional dinner with the host family, followed by a cozy night in their home, sharing stories and experiences.

DAY 2: DISCOVERING ANCESTRAL TECHNIQUES AND NATURE
Breakfast and Community Tour
We will begin with a traditional breakfast. Then, you will explore the community, getting to know its streets, the local church, and its inhabitants, immersing yourself in the daily life of Chinchero.
Andean Textiles Workshop
You will learn the art of Andean weaving, starting from shearing the wool to dyeing it with plants collected the previous day, and finally weaving and finishing a traditional textile. You will also have the opportunity to purchase crafts directly from local artisans.
Visit to Piuray Lagoon and Agricultural Activities
After the workshop, we will visit Piuray Lagoon, where you will learn about its history and cultural significance. Here, you can discover traditional agricultural techniques such as plowing and harvesting potatoes, and even participate in the preparation of a “huatia,” an earthen oven used to cook fresh potatoes.
Farewell Lunch and Return to Cusco
We will enjoy a traditional lunch by the lagoon before saying goodbye to our host family and returning to Cusco.
OPTIONAL VISIT: Before returning to Cusco, you can visit the archaeological center of Chinchero, a beautiful Inca site accompanied by its colonial church, you need a TOURIST TICKET (Not included).

Once your experiential tour is over, you have the option to visit the archaeological site in the town, which is quite impressive.
The Entry Ticket is sold at the entrance gate. If needed, make sure to bring CASH and your ID or passport. Additionally, if you have an active tourist ticket, be sure to bring it for entry to Moray.
