SUPER SACRED VALLEY TOUR (SACRED VALLEY VIP)
If you have limited time in Cusco but want to experience it all, the Super Sacred Valley Tour is designed for you. This comprehensive itinerary covers the absolute best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, including the unique circular terraces of Moray and the ancient Salt Mines of Maras.
Itinerary
Tour Starts: 07:00 AM
- We begin with an early pickup from your hotel. Our first destination is Chinchero, a town world-renowned for its high-quality textiles and ceramics.
- We will visit the historic colonial church, built atop Inca foundations, which houses priceless religious paintings from the 15th to the 17th centuries.
- Next, we explore the circular agricultural terraces of Moray, believed to be an ancient experimental greenhouse where the Incas acclimatized crops.
- We then continue to the Maras Salt Mines, an impressive landscape of over 3,000 salt ponds where high-quality pink salt is still harvested by hand using ancestral techniques.
- After these visits, we head to Urubamba for a well-deserved buffet lunch featuring the best of regional Peruvian cuisine.
- Post-lunch, we arrive at Ollantaytambo. Known as the "Living Inca City" because residents still live in original Inca dwellings, we will climb the massive terraces of its military fortress.
- This strategic site was designed to guard the entrance to the lower Sacred Valley and protect against potential invasions.
- On our return route toward Cusco, we visit the Pisac Archaeological Park. Set atop a mountain peak, this site offers stunning views of the valley and complex terracing.
- We will take a moderate walk to explore its religious sector, including the sacred Intihuatana (sun-tethering stone).
